Pick your side

You pick one side. It locks when the contest starts.

Bots team mascot: a silver robot

Bots

For builders who use Grok Bot, Grok, or Cursor.

Dots team mascot: a creature made of glowing dots

Dots

For builders who use OpenAI: ChatGPT Dots or the Agents API.

Muse team mascot: a paintbrush with swirls of color

Muse

For builders who use Meta Muse or the Meta Model API.

The main agent in your build has to run on your side's tools. Everything else (hosting, database, design) is up to you.

How it works

  1. Sign up

Pick your side. Enter alone or as a team of up to 4, all on the same side.

  2. Build

The challenge drops on day one: an after-hours desk. A customer asks for something after closing, and by morning the owner has a plan and a draft reply. A person approves anything before it goes out. You have two weeks.

  3. Submit

Send a public code repo, a live link we can try, and a demo video of 2 minutes or less.

  4. Judging and winners

Half the score is a community vote and half is the judges. Winners go on the Wall of Builders.

Official Rules: Bots vs Dots vs Muse, Round 1

1. Host

The event is hosted by AgentHive Inc, doing business as First Deploy, of Palm Coast, Florida ("Host"). Co-hosts will be announced. The event is unofficial and not affiliated with or endorsed by xAI/SpaceXAI, OpenAI, or Meta.

2. Free to enter, skill-based

No purchase or payment is needed to enter or win. Winners are chosen by skill, using the judging criteria below. Chance plays no part. Any third-party plans, API usage, or hosting you choose to use are at your own cost and choice.

3. Eligibility

  • Open to individuals 18 or older.
  • Entrants under 18 may take part with written consent from a parent or legal guardian, provided before kickoff. The Host may ask a guardian to accept any prize on a minor's behalf.
  • Employees of the Host and immediate family members may take part but are not eligible for prizes.
  • Void where prohibited by law.

4. Sides and teams

  • Each person picks exactly one side: Bots, Dots, or Muse. You may change sides until kickoff. After kickoff, your side is locked.
  • Teams have 1–4 members, all from the same side. Each person may be on only one team.
  • Side stack: the core agent must run on the side's stack.
  • Bots: Grok Bot, Grok, or Cursor.
  • Dots: OpenAI, meaning ChatGPT Dots or the OpenAI Agents API.
  • Muse: Meta Muse or the Meta Model API.
  • Supporting tools are open.

5. Build window and fresh work

  • The build window runs from kickoff to the ship deadline. Both dates will be announced on this page before signups close.
  • All project code must be written during the window. You may use open-source libraries, frameworks, and public templates, and you must credit them in your README.

6. Submissions

Each team makes one submission by the deadline. It must include: 1. A public, open-source repository with a license chosen by the team, for example MIT or Apache-2.0. 2. A live URL that judges can use during judging. 3. A demo video of 2 minutes or less. 4. The team name, side, and members' names and X handles.

Late or incomplete submissions may not be judged.

7. Data and safety

  • Use synthetic data only, meaning the starter data provided by the Host or data you create yourself. No real customer, personal, or confidential data.
  • No outbound messages may be sent to real people. Any send step must stop at a human approval.
  • No malware, scraping in violation of a site's terms, or attempts to manipulate voting. Breaking these rules may lead to disqualification.

8. Ownership and permission to feature

  • Entrants keep all ownership and intellectual property rights in their submissions.
  • By submitting, each team gives the Host and co-hosts a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to display, describe, link to, and share the submission, team name, and member names and handles. This covers the Wall of Builders, event pages, and posts about the event, and it lasts for as long as the Wall is online.
  • Teams must have the rights to everything they submit.

9. Judging

  • Team score: 50% community vote and 50% judges' rubric.
  • Community vote counts stay hidden until voting closes.
  • Rubric: Works live (40), Useful to a real small business (25), Craft and UX (20), Side fit (15).
  • Side score: the average of a side's top 3 team scores. If a side has fewer than 3 teams, the available team scores are averaged.
  • Ties: broken by the judges' rubric score, then by the "Works live" score.
  • Final decisions: judges' decisions are final. The panel includes at least one judge from outside each camp. Judges disclose conflicts of interest and do not score their own teams.
  • Voting period and winner announcement: dates will be announced on this page.

10. Prizes

  • Wall of Builders feature for the winning side and the top team per side.
  • A build writeup for the top team per side.
  • An X Spaces demo slot for the overall top team.
  • Side Champion title until the next round.
  • Sponsor credits or extras may be added per side and will be announced before kickoff.
  • Prizes have no cash value unless stated, cannot be transferred, and may be swapped for something of similar value if a sponsor's offer changes. Winners are responsible for any taxes on prizes.

11. Conduct

Be respectful toward other builders, judges, and hosts. The Host may remove or disqualify anyone for harassment, cheating, plagiarism, or rule violations.

12. Changes and cancellation

The Host may change dates, rules, or prizes, or pause or cancel the event, if needed. Any change will be posted on firstdeploy.ai/battle. Entrants will be told about material changes before kickoff when possible.

13. Privacy

Signup information (name, email, X handle, side, team status, idea) is used only to run this event and contact entrants about it. It is not sold. Entrants may ask for their data to be deleted at any time after the event.

14. Limits

Participation is at each entrant's own discretion. The Host isn't responsible for third-party service outages, lost submissions, or technical problems outside its control. To the extent the law allows, the Host's liability is limited to the value of any prize awarded. These rules are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA.
